Pool Filter Cleaning Service in Orlando, FL

Your filter is the engine of your pool's clarity — when it's clogged, nothing else works properly. We service all three filter types with the detail they actually need.

We Service Every Type of Pool Filter

Cartridge, sand, and DE filters each work differently — and each needs a different cleaning approach. We know the difference and service each one correctly.

Cartridge Filter Cleaning

Pleated cartridge elements trap fine particles effectively but require periodic removal and cleaning. We disassemble the housing, remove the cartridge, high-pressure rinse between every pleat, inspect for tears or collapsed sections, and soak in filter cleaner to remove oils and mineral buildup that water alone can't remove.

Full cartridge removal and inspection

Pleat-by-pleat high-pressure rinse

Oil and mineral deposit treatment

O-ring lubrication and housing reassembly

Sand Filter Backwashing & Service

Sand filters trap particles as water passes through the sand bed. Backwashing reverses the water flow to flush trapped debris — we verify backwash valve operation, check sand condition, inspect the laterals (the internal distribution system), and assess whether the sand bed needs replacement.

Multi-port valve inspection and lubrication

Full backwash cycle with rinse

Sand bed condition assessment

Pressure gauge verification pre and post

DE Filter Breakdown & Cleaning

Diatomaceous earth filters provide the finest filtration of any type, capable of removing particles down to 2–5 microns. They require full disassembly to clean properly — we remove and soak the internal grids, fully clear the spent DE from the tank, inspect grids for tears, and recharge with fresh DE on reassembly.

Full grid removal and acid wash

Manifold and standpipe inspection

Tank interior cleaning

Fresh DE recharge to proper dosage

Signs Your Pool Filter Needs Attention

Pool filters don't announce when they need cleaning. These are the signals to watch for — don't wait until pool clarity suffers to act.

Filter pressure 8–10 psi above clean starting pressure — this is the primary indicator of a clogged filter that needs cleaning

Cloudy or hazy water despite correct chemistry — water that tests fine but looks dull is often a filter issue

Reduced water flow at return jets — sluggish returns indicate restricted flow through an overloaded filter

Pump running hot or louder than normal — back-pressure from a clogged filter makes the pump work harder

More than 3–4 months since last cartridge cleaning — regardless of visible pressure, time-based cleaning prevents buildup from becoming embedded

Pool Filter Cleaning Questions

Cartridge filters need cleaning every 1–3 months in Orlando conditions. Sand filters should be backwashed monthly and get a full service annually. DE filters need a full breakdown every 3–6 months. High debris loads — oak pollen season, nearby construction, heavy pool use — push toward the more frequent end.
Cartridge filters have a cylindrical housing with a removable pleated element inside. Sand filters are a large round tank, often gray or beige, with a multi-port valve on top or the side. DE filters look similar to sand filters but you'll see a small DE feeder tube and the filter was "charged" with diatomaceous earth powder. If you're not sure, we'll identify it during your free assessment.
An overloaded filter can't trap fine particles — they stay suspended and cause cloudiness. High filter pressure strains the pump motor, accelerating wear and potentially causing premature failure. In severe cases, dirty cartridges develop channeling or bypass where water takes the path of least resistance around the clogged media entirely, circulating unfiltered water through your pool while the system appears to run normally.
Cartridge pleated fabric degrades over time — after 2–3 years of regular use, the pleats become compacted, torn, or so oil-saturated that cleaning can no longer restore effective filtration. We inspect during every service and will recommend replacement when it's warranted, not before. Sand media typically needs replacement every 5–7 years. DE media (the powder) is replenished with fresh material after every full cleaning.
Yes. We provide filter cleaning as a standalone service. If you manage your own pool maintenance or use another provider for routine service but want a professional filter clean and inspection, we'll schedule it as a one-time visit. We'll document what we found and any recommendations.
